2007 Prodrift Champion, Eric O’Sullivan has recently announced that he will compete in the 2009 Formula Drift Championship.
Competing in a Gruppe-S Subaru Sti, previously that of APR, O’Sullivan will begin his assault on the American drifting scene at Round 1, The Streets of Long Beach, April 11th. Further information regarding O’Sullivans Formula Drift Sponsors and final specification of the chassis are expected shortly.
O’Sullivan is no stranger to Formula Drift, during the last 2 years he has made numerous trips to the USA, forging relationships and setting up a network of contacts that has culminated in this fantastic opportunity for the Dublin drifter. O’Sullivan also competed in the Red Bull Drifting World Championships in Long Beach (Nov 08) where he successfully steered a damaged Corolla with just 250hp to a credible 15th place in qualification. One can only expect that this performance that saw him qualify in the Top 16 of the best drifters in the world was a significant point in the progress of his negotiations to compete stateside.
